      <image:title>Elementary Art - Elementary Art: Tie-Dye Paper Towels - The Sharpie</image:title>
      <image:caption>Use the sharpie to trace the pattern. You can use the dotting method or connecting the dots to make lines. I would suggest putting your paper towel on top of something because it will bleed through onto your table if you don’t.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Elementary Art - Elementary Art: Tie-Dye Paper Towels - Watercolor</image:title>
      <image:caption>If you have never used water color paint before, it is rather simple. You dip the paintbrush into water and then apply it to the paint. That will get your paint wet and allow you to use it.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Elementary Art - Elementary Art: Tie-Dye Paper Towels - Begin!</image:title>
      <image:caption>Go ahead and start adding the colors to your paper towel. The colors will probably spread out because the paper towels are absorbing the water.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Elementary Art - Elementary Art: Tie-Dye Paper Towels - Color Choices</image:title>
      <image:caption>You can start by adding colors but if you put the wrong colors next to each other they might look muddy. Think about what colors create other colors. You have you primaries: Red, Blue and Yellow. You can mix your primaries to get your secondaries: Orange, Purple, Green. It would look awesome if you put red and blue with purple in the middle. It will look like those colors are blending together. Be creative and experiment!</image:caption>

      <image:title>Elementary Art - Elementary Art: Weaving - Odd Numbers</image:title>
      <image:caption>You want to cut slits into the cardboard circle. If you put an even number of slits it will show your lines. You want to make sure it is an odd number so your over and under weaving runs smoothly.</image:caption>
    </image:image>
    <image:image>
      <image:loc>https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/5e3209a096925c55d82be2c3/1585859507469-LF6JKTNGPFUN6LKHZ4CR/FB6F803C-A941-4676-BBAF-371A187AF14C.JPG</image:loc>
      <image:title>Elementary Art - Elementary Art: Weaving - Making The Loom</image:title>
      <image:caption>You can use any kind of yarn/string for this step. I like to use a thicker option for this part but anything will work. You will start by sliding the string through one slit. Bring it all the way across the circle to the the opposite side. Continue that until you have wrapped it around every slit. You will notice with the odd number we cut, the string will look like it is on the wrong side. It is exactly where it needs to be!</image:caption>
    </image:image>

      <image:title>Elementary Art - Elementary Art: Weaving - Tie It</image:title>
      <image:caption>You will take that last string and loop it around the middle. You want to tie it down around all of the string in the middle section. This will secure all of the string in place.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Elementary Art - Elementary Art: Hand Print Patterns - Patterns</image:title>
      <image:caption>We have divided our image into a bunch of separate areas. Each area we need to fill with a pattern. A pattern is simply something the repeats over and over again. For this project you can talk about shapes and line. What are the different shapes? What are geometric shapes verses organic shapes? You can talk about the different types of lines. Straight lines, curvy lines, horizontal lines, diagonal lines, zigzags, dots that make lines, ect. There are many options. The rule with this section is… You cannot have the same patterns next to each other. Explore!</image:caption>

      <image:title>Elementary Art - Elementary Art: 3-D Fish - Folding</image:title>
      <image:caption>There are four big folds in this project. The folding can be hard for younger kids so you might have to help with these parts. For the first fold, you have to take one corner and fold it to the opposite side of the paper.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Elementary Art - Elementary Art: 3-D Fish - Two Shapes</image:title>
      <image:caption>I always tell my students to find the two shapes that we made when we did that fold. (A triangle/rectangle) Our goal with this next step is to separate those two shapes. There is only one line connecting them. Use the scissors to separate those two shapes.</image:caption>
    </image:image>

      <image:title>Elementary Art - Elementary Art: 3-D Fish - Two Shapes</image:title>

      <image:title>Elementary Art - Elementary Art: 3-D Fish - Open It Up</image:title>
      <image:caption>When we open up our triangle we will see that we have one crease line. Our next fold is the hardest fold of the project. There are two corners not touching that crease line. They need to fold in and touch that crease line.</image:caption>
    </image:image>
    <image:image>
      <image:loc>https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/5e3209a096925c55d82be2c3/1584760072654-5Z0FYH4E1FO29SOSMU0M/IMG_9806.jpg</image:loc>

      <image:title>Elementary Art - Elementary Art: 3-D Fish - Open It Back Up</image:title>
      <image:caption>After we did that fold we have to open it back up. Now we have three crease lines! At the middle crease, fold it in half.</image:caption>
    </image:image>
    <image:image>
      <image:loc>https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/5e3209a096925c55d82be2c3/1584760073546-CG7BPWWYF4CSE4W62IDN/IMG_9809.jpg</image:loc>

      <image:title>Elementary Art - Elementary Art: 3-D Fish - Dots!</image:title>
      <image:caption>This part is really important. We want to make 5 dots along the crease line. These dots should be in the middle of the crease line. We don’t want to go too close to either end of it.</image:caption>
    </image:image>
    <image:image>

      <image:title>Elementary Art - Elementary Art: 3-D Fish - Cut The Lines</image:title>
      <image:caption>You need to cut all 5 lines. While cutting it is important to remember you don’t want to cut past the crease line. We only want to cut the lines we drew.</image:caption>
    </image:image>
    <image:image>
      <image:loc>https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/5e3209a096925c55d82be2c3/1584760076422-527P4VPFQ2LW9KPYK0FN/IMG_9816.jpg</image:loc>
      <image:title>Elementary Art - Elementary Art: 3-D Fish - Open Up..</image:title>
      <image:caption>When we open the triangle up again we should have something that looks like this. There is a middle part and two flaps on each side. The middle part has a big side and goes down to a smaller side. The big side is the head of your fish. You want to draw eyes first so you can turn around the first if you need to while decorating the other side. This is where the creativity happens. If they want to make eye lashes or eyebrows, go for it! Maybe fish don’t have them but it is their fish. You can even tell them about scales (the skin of a fish). They can draw scales if they would like.</image:caption>
    </image:image>

      <image:title>Elementary Art - Elementary Art: 3-D Fish - What can you decorate?</image:title>
      <image:caption>Notice I made patterns. Patterns are things that repeat over and over again. Ask your kid for an example of a pattern. It could be shapes, lines, colors, or even dance moves. As long as it repeats. They can decorate that entire middle section. If we look at the sides, there are two flaps. Decorate one flap but leave the other blank.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Elementary Art - Elementary Art: 3-D Fish - Glue One Line</image:title>
      <image:caption>We don’t want to put glue all over the shape because a little should be sticking out of the mouth. All we need is one line on the straight part of the shape.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>Stick it in the mouth and press down. Give it a wiggle test to make sure it stays in. If it falls out, apply more glue. You can even decorate the bottom lip if you want. Most kids will say they want to draw a tongue or that they would like to add teeth.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>Now we have the body and the lip but we are missing one important thing that all fish need. FINS! The fins are essential to how a fish moves. The back fin helps with speed, the dorsal fin (up top) helps keep the balance, and the pectoral fins on the sides help with the directions.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Elementary Art - Elementary Art: Mixing Color/Pointillism - Primary Colors</image:title>
      <image:caption>The primary colors are the three colors that cannot be created by mixing other colors together. These three colors are red, blue and yellow. When you put them on your plate, make sure you leave a little space in between each one.</image:caption>
    </image:image>

      <image:title>Elementary Art - Elementary Art: Mixing Color/Pointillism - Red + Yellow = Orange</image:title>
      <image:caption>Allow your kids to mix red and yellow together. They will start to see how these two colors create orange.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Elementary Art - Elementary Art: Mixing Color/Pointillism - Yellow + Blue = Green</image:title>

      <image:title>Elementary Art - Elementary Art: Mixing Color/Pointillism - Red + Blue = Purple</image:title>

      <image:title>Elementary Art - Elementary Art: Mixing Color/Pointillism - A full range of colors/tints</image:title>
      <image:caption>A tint is a mixture of a color with white.</image:caption>
    </image:image>
    <image:image>
      <image:loc>https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/5e3209a096925c55d82be2c3/1584654007433-WO776ZRLSVD6I6IH96W3/IMG_9762.jpg</image:loc>
      <image:title>Elementary Art - Elementary Art: Mixing Color/Pointillism - Pointillism</image:title>
      <image:caption>Pointillism started in the mid-1800s. It was pioneered by Georges Seurat and Paul Signac. This was a time when painters were trying to figure out new methods. This method took a more scientific approach by adding color theory. It was the start to the Neo-Impressionist movement. These artists used a method of applying dots of paint in patterns to form an image.</image:caption>
    </image:image>
    <image:image>
      <image:loc>https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/5e3209a096925c55d82be2c3/1584654007208-J8ISS6Y0S516MW3T8OVN/IMG_9763.jpg</image:loc>
      <image:title>Elementary Art - Elementary Art: Mixing Color/Pointillism - Patterns</image:title>
      <image:caption>A pattern is essentially something that repeats over and over. When I teach my students about patterns, we talk about what kind of things make patterns. I’ve heard kids say lines, shapes, or even dance moves. It is encouraged to dance a little if that comes up. Once you talk about it you can show them different things you can do with patterns. Rotate a line vs a dotted line. Rotate a circle with a triangle. Get them thinking about different things they can do. I strongly suggest letting them create patterns using dots on a sheet of paper or even a shiny piece of foil to get the hang of it.</image:caption>
    </image:image>
    <image:image>
      <image:loc>https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/5e3209a096925c55d82be2c3/1584659582897-RKZEOEEZKAWYSMNUFIT5/IMG_9768.jpg</image:loc>
      <image:title>Elementary Art - Elementary Art: Mixing Color/Pointillism - Create Something Real</image:title>
      <image:caption>Now that your kid has played with some abstract patterns, have them think of something they enjoy. They can create animals, landscapes, bodies of water, or even sunsets.</image:caption>
    </image:image>
    <image:image>
      <image:loc>https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/5e3209a096925c55d82be2c3/1584659586196-K8MCEGNME5H948S13E0L/IMG_9772.jpg</image:loc>
      <image:title>Elementary Art - Elementary Art: Mixing Color/Pointillism - Outlines</image:title>
      <image:caption>This is where the black paint comes in! Artists love outlines. Outlines are lines we create around what we are drawing. Most often these lines are black but the don’t always have to be. You can create outlines using any color. Artists like to use them to separate things in their picture.</image:caption>
    </image:image>
    <image:image>
      <image:loc>https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/5e3209a096925c55d82be2c3/1584659585784-Z8G7R6RC8BLZR24Y9V7Y/IMG_9773.jpg</image:loc>
      <image:title>Elementary Art - Elementary Art: Mixing Color/Pointillism - A Beautiful Butterfly</image:title>
      <image:caption>Butterflies also bring up things like symmetry. You can talk about things that are symmetrical. Look around the room and point something out. You could also talk about the difference between warm and cool colors. Why are those colors considered warm vs cool? These are just things to think about.</image:caption>
    </image:image>
    <image:image>
      <image:loc>https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/5e3209a096925c55d82be2c3/1584659588313-UJ6QR8HHYZI2LMLPDFP6/IMG_9776.jpg</image:loc>

      <image:title>About - It only takes one moment to capture a perfect image. One moment where the lighting is just right and the subject falls perfectly into place.</image:title>
      <image:caption>— I picked up my first camera when I was 16 years old. I grew up in Long Island, New York. One of my favorite things about New York was the ability to go to concerts whenever you’d like. I made sure to always get front row so I could see the performer up close. After a while, I was more excited about the photographs I was getting of these musicians than the music itself. That was how I knew what I wanted to be when I grew up. I moved to West Virginia to take care of my grandpa and that is where I finished my B.F.A in photography from Marshall University. After college I fell into art education when I became an adjunct faculty member at Marshall University and a contract educator for the Huntington Museum of Art. Teaching has not only allowed me to help others on their creative path but it has pushed me as an artist as well. As the old saying goes, “If you do what you love, you'll never work a day in your life.”</image:caption>

      <image:title>Testimonials - “Working with Amanda was the best! We rarely ever get our pictures taken so we had no idea what we were doing or how to pose and Amanda made us feel so comfortable while making us look amazing! Our wedding day seemed to be over in the blink of an eye and she made sure to capture every special moment for us to look back on. I was an anxious mess on my wedding day so if you book Amanda in the future just know that photographs will be one thing you can check off the list to worry about.”</image:title>

      <image:title>Testimonials - “Amanda was the photographer for my wedding on June 8, 2019. It was a folk-style outside wedding along the Greenbrier river complete with glass mason jars with tiny lights and an old timey band. Amanda captured everything perfectly. She was extremely professional and went with the flow. Her photos are full of life and color and truly captured the look and feel of the whole blessed day. My husband and I couldn’t be happier. We framed many of them and smile every time we look at them. I felt like I got to share the experience with Amanda and not just hire her to take photos. That meant a lot. Her price was beyond reasonable for the incredible quality. I recommend her as a photographer for any event, especially outdoor weddings. I was and am 100% pleased.”</image:title>
